April in Colorado is Lovely

Ah Spring is here. What a season of change. One day, warmth and sunshine and the next, snow. It has been great seeing what is growing around our new house this spring. I did buy some tulips that I put in the ground to have some "instant" flowers, but mostly we have trees, two bushes(one's a crab apple, the other is unidentified), grass out front and then weeds, weeds and more weeds. We are planning out a raised garden to start growing some of our own veggies this summer. It's going to take some work though and right now we are having too much fun on our weekends to start it. :D

We have celebrated a lot of firsts this past month. Giulia learned to ride her bike, she went skiing for the first time, I went snowboarding for the first time in five years and Mic tried skiies for the first time in his adult life.




Carrick is quite a busy little boy too. He runs outside every chance he gets. He has been enjoying our nightly walks as a family. He is saying more owrds, but still chooses to communicate mainly through grunts. MoMM, with a very strong final M is one of his favorite words. He says up, oh, uh-oh and peek-a-boo regularly. He shakes his head no and follows commands very well. He loves water and will play in it anywhere he finds it, even though he is suddenly scared of the bath for the first few minutes. He can climb anything and except for making sure he doesn't fall off things, can play at a park on his own. He is getting tall and has great hair that just stands on end most of the time. He gives great kisses to everyone when it is time for bed and is finally enjoying reading books. Before, it was enough to sit on my lap, open the book, close the book, put it away and get another and repeat. :D He loves music and will turn on a radio whenever he finds one. He sings with me in the car to a CD Heather and Ray got us for Christmas. It's adorable to hear him sing "ah-eww" as soon as the intro music starts.

Giulia is learning all the words to the song "21 eccumenical councils" and sings it for anyone who will listen. She is awesome on her bike and her endurance is getting better and better. I have to run next to her now. She is good at following the rules and waiting for us at corners. I have noticed that she can make friends anywhere. She'll just walk up to a kid and say Hi and they're off playing. She gets that from her dad, not from me! She is studying at home with me and starting to read. I think she's doing great. She's helping around the house. Her chores are feeding the dog, cleaning her bathroom and helping me clean the house on Tues when her friend Madeline comes over. It's been great to see her mature over the last few months.

I am a proud mommy. They keep my busy and that is how I like it. I still work a few hours each week day watching a 9 yr old after school. It's an easy job and it works well for us.

Mic has passed both tests and is now licensed for his job. That means he can start selling his own loans. His main focus though is us and coming home in the evening to be with us. He is so proud watching his kids and seeing how they have changed each day.

We are blessed and we know it, Praise the Lord!
